One of the reasons I think Manifold 9 is so fast at displaying objects is that they resample the graphics. That seems to allow a faster draw, but it also makes some compromises for screen resolution.

For example, see these two drawings of water features

using this screen display to make a nice cartographic map is not sufficient with Manifold 9, compared to Manifold 8. I remember when 9 was in a beta mode many years back, you could change the way the graphics would be drawn on the screen. Is there a way to improve the graphic display of the objects? If not, I'll have to revert back to Manifold 8 to make a nice looking map.

if you click on the map, you'll see what I mean...

Art, I remember v8 used to optimize the vector drawing for speed and would do some sort of "coarse-ification" or simplification for the display if the Options checkbox was engaged.

Could it be that there is a default non-hairline outline (of some thickness) that is getting rendered in v9? Perhaps this is part of the default Tools-Options settings for normal optimization (anti-aliasing, etc.) ?

(brainstorming for discussion without implying an answer)

I recall some discussion early in the creation of 9 about why it is generally sharper than 8, but can't remember why. My experience has been that this the case and it was one of the reasons I switched to 9. Does your hydro example print/export at the coarser resolution at that scale?
