Hi,

Using 8.0.35.0, when making a selection with Select Shape or Select Freeform tools, objects are selected within the bounding box of the shape of my selection. This was not the behavior in the past and makes no sense. Anyone else experiencing this issue ?

What behavior would you expect?

The selection should be within the shape, not within the bounding box. If a draw a circle, I don't expect objects to be selected within the rectangle that contains the circle.

Are you accidentally holding down the shift key? I just checked and it works as expected, objects within the shape, unless I hold down the shift key, then it's "open" mode, any part of object within shape.

Another thing to consider: if any of the objects are branched objects, what look like multiple, separate objects could all be the same object. If any part is within an open select the entire object (including what look like separate parts but which in fact are all part of the same object) is selected.

Shift key : no.

All objects are singlepart objects.

I attached a project with a drawing if someone wants to test it.

For whatever reason, it seems to work fine here Vincent.

Vincent, I've been able to reproduce the unexpected result you describe, using your sample data. Defining a complex shape using "select / shape" does seem to include some area objects beyond its defined perimeter. Two screen shots attached. First shows the irregular shape defined using the tool, second is the result of a repeated process using the first screenshot as a guide (not dextrous enough to screen-capture the concluding right click and maintain the "shape", even if it's possible).

Running "normalise topology" on your data doesn't alter the result.
