Holding out hope!

I've already given up hope. We have to face the truth that there won't be a new version any time soon

your own words from 27-March-25:

"Expected soon, in the next three weeks or so."

Now more than seven weeks have now passed

I'd missed that one, thanks.

It's hard to know for sure, it seems like you are maybe a volunteer for the company, rather than a representative, but also sometimes offer forward-looking information, but aren't in a position to provide anything official.

When you used the word "Expected" to begin a sentence in your forum response to a "next release" inquiry, it wasn't clear who should be doing the expecting (yourself, a manifold-adjacent-agent expect? Manifold users ought to expect? Your contacts within the company have indicated that they themselves expect?). Such a mysterious company, can't help but love it.

Here's a take on the mystery. Certainly being grateful to the Manifold company is justified, because they have created a great product. Given their history, expecting them to do normal things like fixing obvious software problems isn't justified. Expecting new releases as may be indicated on their website or in this forum isn't justified.

Dimitri is obviously a good and well meaning guy, but the nature of software development and company's history is to follow what is best for the company. Keeping forum members in the know is low on their priorities. Their other business opportunites seem to drive the ship as well as AI development, which may let them rapidly develop code in the future.

It's hard not to make software purchases and usage decisions without some expectation of the future, but I think it's fair to say one needs to be very cautious about putting too much faith in short-term expectations with Manifold. Can't say I love it, but being grateful is better than being upset.

@Dimitri, I think your link above in "Missed this post" is pointing to another topic, and not related to this topic.

Nevertheless , any news on a next release soon ?

Regards, Yves.

What you have to do is read the full text of the specific post that Dimitri linked there. At the end of the second paragraph you will find an Easter egg that might give a clue as to what comes "next" for Release 9. Cheers!

Yves, Dimitri refers to the next release in that link

That works both with the current 181.0 build as well as the upcoming 181.1 build which changes the CSV dataport to be RFC 4180 compliant.

So at least we know one new function. RFC 4180 compliance.

<edit> @joebocop Snap!

Just off topic ever so slightly, inhabiting this forum over the years turned me from an impulsive button clicker, to a more careful and thorough manual reader. Not quite the optimal investor in learning, but a vast change over the years.

I wish your button clicking quote could be pinned to an obvious-hard-to-ignore FAQ for this forum. It is essential for this software application, and its supporting docs. Thank you.

It's been 2 months since the 3 week expected update. Do you have a new expected update date?
