I need to take a Bing webserver image I have been using in GIS and turn it into a ECW file or Geotiff to use with other presentation graphics software.

How do you do that in Release 9?

I know how to unlink a file in V8 but sadly my imageservers dont work anymore.

The imageservers in V9 work very well.- Very fast.

Thanks

John

I think the first steps are:

1. Create Imageserver datasource with saved cache.

2. Copy the Image component to local map file.

3. Change local image properties:

Table: [imageserver_cache_bingsatellite]

I do not know exactly how to proceed. I think it is possible. By changing the Rect, LevelBase and LocalOffset and LocalScale properties. But exactly how, idk.

Another possibility is to use the Edit - Save as Image command to create an image from the Bing layer.

Newbie here ; I'm trying to use that command but it appears to be non-existent.

I want to export a selected area of an image (forest cover % 0-100).

I am following these steps https://manifold.net/doc/mfd9/index.htm#edit_-_save_as_image.htm

  1. Open a map. Undock the window and resize it to a convenient size.

  2. Pan and zoom the map to the view desired.

  3. Use the Layers pane to turn on desired layers, including any virtual layers, and to arrange layers as desired.

  4. IIn the main menu, choose Edit - Save as Image to launch the Save as Image dialog.

I can't complete step4. There is no "main menu" listed in the documents. There is a main toolbar, a file menu and an edit menu, but none of those contain a "save as image" option. For example...

https://manifold.net/doc/mfd9/edit_menu.htm

I'm using Manifold 9.0.174.0 64bit Win10

Have I missed something obvious ?

By "main menu" the documentation means the horizontal list of choices at the top of the display. In the first illustration in the Desktop topic it consists of File View Tools Help. What are listed as choices depend on the context.

I'm using Manifold 9.0.174.0 64bit Win10

Have I missed something obvious ?

Yes. You're not using the latest build. 174 doesn't have the Save as Image feature.

Thank you for the reply Dimitri.

Ready to install update 181, but just checking something first please.

I'm using both Manifold 8 and Manifold 9 on my desktop, because I have some legacy M8 files with lengthy SQL scripts which I don't want to rewrite for M9...

The update instructions page I found after following links from the M9 download/install pages, was this..

https://manifold.net/updates/updates.htm, which has big red letters saying "uninstall previous versions".

It's not mentioned in the following link however, that updating M9 would require uninstalling M8.

https://manifold.net/updates/downloads.shtml

Can you please confirm that its only necessary to uninstall previous M9 ?

disregard previous Q re installs. I have successfully updated M9 without uninstalling M8, and I can now use the Edit Save as image in M9. Thank you
