I have a 8 gig file sitting in my documents on a desktop computer linked to 150 projects.

Is it possible to link my field laptop to these already cached images as I often have no or limited internet connection in remote areas of Australia where my work is located.

If it is possible what is the process, please.

Thank You in advance & Regards

Jeff

Without coding a script I believe it's not possible.

I have a 8 gig file sitting in my documents on a desktop computer linked to 150 projects.

Do you mean folders containing 8GB of files or a single file that is 8GB?

From your comments on limited internet I guess you mean the former, that you are using image servers with many cached tiles on your desktop computer that 150 or so projects utilize. Is that it?

If so, that's easy to do: copy the folders/files to your laptop. You can use the same login and My Documents folder to host them or, if you change the Data Cache location in Tools - Options - File Locations you can put them in some other folder. If you use the same image servers it all should work.

If that's not it but you have a single file that is linked into 150 projects I see no reason why you could not copy that to your laptop along with the 150 projects and, if you maintain exactly the same folder hierarchy so the PATHs are the same, that too should work.

All good! and thank you, Dimitri, for your timely answer to my question which was albeit a little confusing for you.

I had tried to do what you suggested before but I was re-linking the file and that was my downfall as it actually created another folder with a different number in my docs.

This time I simply opened the existing linked and magic there it was.

I noticed you also made comments on my last post and it was remiss of me not to respond then so I will say Thank You now...it is greatly appreciated.

Regards

Jeff
