hi everyone,

we encountered a problem with one of our .map files. According to our guy, he said that he was trying to print a particular map but it won't print for some reason. so he restarted the printer and then the machine but his file suddenly won't open and it prompted "File version not supported".

even if we try to import the components from the .map file, it still says the same thing.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

°If all the versions of Manifold involved are the same version, then it may be that one or more of the first few bytes have been corrupted (probably more elsewhere in the file).

So it seems likely that the file cannot be salvaged, except by Tech. You could send it them with one or more support tokens.

But you wouldn't be asking the question if you had a working backup strategy. Time to sort that out as top priority.

My take on this is never to save a project without a new name (always Save As). And to do this whenever significant work is done on the file. If it would take too long to save the whole project, copy new or changed components to a new project and save that as a backup just of the new work.

Whatever your own strategy, one way or another, always keep at least 3 valid copies of everything, at least until the project is no longer worth anything to anyone.

It's not rocket science. (It's paranoia. But necessary.)
